Pedestrian struck and killed by at least two cars, authorities say – Sun Sentinel
A 30-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by two cars on the exit ramp from southbound Interstate 95 to Interstate 595 in Fort Lauderdale early Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Diego Ramires, of Hollywood, was hit by a 2006 BMW 325i and a 2015 Hyundai Veloster at about 6:15 a.m., said Sgt. Mark Wysocky of the Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities don’t know why Ramires was on the highway, Wysocky said.
Both drivers involved in the crash remained on the scene, he said. The driver of the BMW, Elizabeth A. Shuhart, 59, of Fort Lauderdale, was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale with minor injuries.
The other driver, Margaret C. Sullivan, 57, of Wilton Manors, was not hurt, authorities said.
Investigators think a third vehicle might also have struck Ramires after the initial impact. The crash remains under investigation.
The southbound exit ramp from I-95 to I-595 was closed for about four hours after the accident.
